Ridges Nature Store

The Nature Store at the Ridges Sanctuary carries a wide selection of nature-related books, puppets, T-shirts and gift items. 

Some of the products featured at the Nature Store:

  • a wide variety of field guides to identify birds, wildflowers, trees, insects, etc.

  • books on natural landscaping and attracting wildlife to your property

  • houses for birds, butterflies, and bats

  • children's gift items and books

  • notecards and journals

  • animal puppets

  • T-shirts and sweatshirts featuring exclusive designs 

The Ridges' Nature Store will open for the 2008 season on Friday, May 16. We will be open daily through Sunday, October 12.
Hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and
11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Sunday.

70th Anniversary Poster

For our 70th anniversary, Ridges member Marilyn Mahlberg created this beautiful watercolor painting of the Trailing Arbutus, one of the earliest flowering plants in the Sanctuary. Text reads, "The Ridges Sanctuary - Seventy years protecting this special place - 1937-2007." The 11"x14" poster is printed on heavyweight paper, and is $20 including tax.

"Native Orchids of Door County"  poster

Artist (and Ridges Life Member) Roberta "Bobbie" Raymond Larson created this poster to help guarantee the survival of the native orchid species of Door County. Roberta, a watercolor artist, worked with Ridges naturalists and graphic designer Jim Groll to create a poster featuring eight original paintings of Door County orchids. Sales of the 18x24" poster benefits The Ridges Sanctuary, Door County Land Trust, and The Nature Conservancy. Posters are $10.55 including tax.

A Guide to the Birds of Door County

The Ridges Sanctuary, in cooperation with Doorcobirding, has published "A Guide to the Birds of Door County." This book is a guide to the bird species found on the Peninsula, and lists many of the top birding spots most frequently visited by local experts. According to Willard A. Hartman, one of the guide's compilers, "The guide includes a distillation of thousands of observations made by many expert birding enthusiasts over a period of decades."

The Guide is available at the Ridges' Nature Store, Passtimes Books in Sister Bay, and certain state park bookstores in Door County. All proceeds from sales of the guide will go to The Ridges, and will be directed toward land preservation in Door County. On sale now for only $2.15 including tax - a 50% savings!

101 Wildflowers of The Ridges Sanctuary: A Field Guide for the Curious

After years of requests for a guide to the wildflowers of The Ridges, here it is! This book presents a simple way to identify and enjoy wildflowers, with over one hundred superb color photographs to guide the reader. The book "is meant to be a casual companion -- fun yet informative." Accompanying each flower is a description of how it got its name, its habitat, blooming times, medicinal uses, and other tidbits of information to satisfy your curiosity. All of the plants featured are found in the Ridges Sanctuary, including the Logan Creek Property.
